Family Fun in the Outdoors

A fun, family friendly campground!

What a better way to celebrate the kids being out of school and the weather warming up than CAMPING! We got packed and ready and spent the weekend just east of Nephi, UT at Big Mountain Campground. It was gorgeous!

My husband and I drove up on Friday. It was only like 5 minutes east of the freeway, it was so easy to get to. The couple running the campground were welcoming and helpful, they showed us to our spot and answered all our questions. I was shocked how nice and grassy the tent spot was.

The only downfall was that there was not a fire-pit at each site. We brought small fire-pit of ours, just in case we were able to use it, but we couldn’t. They have pretty tight fire restrictions due to a fire a few years back. Luckily they had fire pits located around the campground; since we had prepped all our dinners to be cooked over the campfire. We got all set up and packed a couple bags with our fire making supplies and tin foil dinners.

The campground had so many trees, it was so pretty AND beneficial. Because of all the trees, in the morning we were able to sleep in! It felt so nice. Our tent still heated up throughout the day, but for the majority of the time it stayed in the shade. In the morning, the gentleman running the campground came by to make sure we were ok and offered to us his sports grill to use.

The rest of the family met us up there the next day. My dad had hurt his back, so he had the tough job of telling us all what needed to be done and how to set up their trailer 😉 We were also celebrating my sisters birthday. To decorate, I strung balloons in the trees and hung a banner. It turned out adorable! Before the trip I made a chocolate zucchini cake, it’s one of my family’s favorites!

The campground is super family friendly with a playground, swim pool and game room. We enjoyed playing in the water at the pool during the day. Every time I walked past the pool, there were families there (never being too crazy or busy) but when we went, we were the only family there, for like 3 hours! Its always convenient to have a bathroom nearby with the kids, the bathrooms were right there (AND they were CLEAN!).

There is a little gift shop and general store inside the main office. The prices were SO affordable. You’d definitely pay more running to the gas station for ice and treats. There was ice cream, sodas and basic cooking supplies. We needed a hose (super random) and sure enough they had it.

We played at the pool, played frisbee on the lawn, they had a cute wooden stage the kids danced on, took walks and had fires. There was a little stream that ran through the campsite next to us that the kids had fun playing by. They felt so adventurous! We brought some powder to change the color of fire’s flames at night. It was so pretty and lasted a long time!  It’s so fun and safe to use.

Our family had such a great time at this campground, we booked another stay before we left. If you’re looking for a fun place to camp with the kids and family, this is highly recommended by us!!
