Honey BBQ Wings

I had never made my own chicken wings until the other day, but I bought a package of wings at the store then had to figure out what to do with them. Luckily Pinterest has recipes for days (years really)… I picked this one out, went for it and scored (Thanks to A Night Owl Blog)!! After my husband and I finished eating, we made plans to pick up more wings at the store to make them again – – ASAP!

HONEY BARBEQUE CHICKEN WINGS

WINGS:
18 Chicken Wings
1/2 C Flour
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1/2 tsp Chili Powder
1/2 tsp Black Pepper
Cooking Spray

SAUCE:
1 C BBQ Sauce
1/2 C Honey
2 Tbsp Hot Sauce
4 Tbsp Butter
1/2 tsp Garlic Powder

INSTRUCTIONS:
– Preheat oven to 425º F
– Cover cookie sheet in foil and generously spray with cooking spray
– In a small bowl, mix: flour, salt, garlic powder, chili powder & black pepper
– Dip chicken wings into the flour mixture until coated
– Place the wings in a single layer on the cookie sheet & place in the oven
– Cook for 35-40 mins, turn them over half way through

– While they are baking – make the sauce by slowly simmering on low heat, the sauce         ingredients: BBQ sauce, honey, hot sauce, butter, garlic powder
– When wings are done baking, carefully dip them in the sauce and place them back on       the cookie sheet
– Place them back in oven for another 5ish mins (or until sauce is bubbling)

MY TIPS:
– I half-ed the recipe with no trouble
– I used Gluten Free Flour and you couldn’t tell (Kind of flour I used: HERE)
– Use tongs to bread, flip & dip the wings
– When flipping the wings halfway through, spray more cooking spray underneath              the wings
– I used Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce (See kind: HERE) & Franks Original RedHot Sauce      (See kind: HERE)
– If you like your wings mild – omit the hot sauce, the chili powder is fine & not spicy
– If you like your wings hot – make them once with the amount of hot sauce                            called for, then you can adjust in the future. I’ll be adding more for my husband next      time

This recipe is perfect! Putting them in the oven before adding the sauce ensures they have the perfect amount of crispiness. The sauce isn’t overpowering, it’s just enough and melts in your mouth. The breading on them isn’t blah either adding a good amount of flavor. These are like restaurant quality!
